Passages: Matt. 5:6

Song: Hunger – Ruth Okechukwu, Dunsin Oyekan

“Blessed are those who Hunger for righteousness for they shall be filled”.

This is a scripture that has been highlighted in my bibles alot when I began praying to God for hunger and desire for Him.
I thought I had understood all I needed from this verse until one day when the Holy Spirit explained more things to me. Thank you dear Holy Spirit.

My first understanding limited my hunger/ desire to “Revival”, “relationship and intimacy with God” and while these are important, the most important in my opinion, I discovered that when I prayed this prayer, I didn’t understand it fully. It was more or less vague. It felt more like an idea than something practical.

I had read about revivals, what happened during them and how God manifested through people. I had read and listened to sermons about the presence of God but when it came to this prayer about hunger, I prayed a bit vaguely.

The Holy Spirit gave me more understanding about the phrase “Blessed are those who hunger for righteousness” by making me have a deeper understanding of the word righteousness .
Righteousness is right living with God, right living with people, knowing the ways of God, the mind of God and living it.

So this verse is not about something abstract but it’s more of something practical.
You can say it like this, “Blessed are those who want to live right with God, who desire to live right with people, who want to know the ways of God, the mind of God and walk in it. Blessed are those who desire to stand up for the truth, and live justly.
Blessed are those who want intimacy with God and never wants leave His presence.
For they shall be satisfied, they shall get all these desires and they shall be empowered by God to do all these”.

I’m here to encourage you to desire God, let it be your prayer everyday to have more of Him. The presence of God in a man’s life makes a huge difference. God wants you to desire Him and He is ready to fill you up.

You can’t go to the tap with a full bottle to fetch water, so you shouldn’t go to God full. Ask Him to empty you of what is not of Him and fill you with Himself.

So next time you read this verse or pray with it, do so in understanding. Think practically on what righteousness entails and ask the Lord to help you. He is willing and ready to help you live a righteous life.

Have a wonderful week!

God desires have a relationship with Him. If you are not born again, know that God loves you so much, He sent His son to die for you. Experience the entirety of His love by praying this prayer “Lord Jesus, I recognize that I’m a sinner. I recognize that you died for me. Come into my heart Lord and be my personal Lord and saviour. Let me experience your love for me in all its dimensions in Jesus Name”.

If you prayed this prayer, congratulations and welcome into the family of God. Please do well to send us a text or WhatsApp message at 09063365637 or send us an email at flavouforsingles@gmail.com
