My Future is Secure
Passages: Jeremiah 29:11, 1:5 Proverbs 3:5-6, Romans 5:8, Isaiah 54:10, 49:15
Song: Fear is not my future by Maverick City & Kirk Franklin ft. Brandon Lake & Chandler Moore
Many times we believers are afraid of leaving our future totally in the hands of God. Maybe because we are scared that God will ask us to do what we don’t like or that what He plans for us is different from our own plans and ambitions
But in the midst of it all we must trust in the fact the God has good plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11) our future is safe in God’s hands. And why should we trust His plans for us? We trust him for 2 reasons:
- The God we serve is all-knowing. He created time but exists out of time. He has the past, present and future in His hands. He already has knowledge of a thing or person even before the very idea of that thing or person was conceived. That was why he confidently said to Jeremiah in Jeremiah 1:5 that “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (NIV).
- The God we serve loves us very much. A kind of love that is unconditional and even deeper than a mother’s love. The bible said in Isaiah 49:15 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!” (NIV). Isaiah 54:10 also says “Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” (NIV) . God love for us is so deep that He sacrificed himself in the person of His only Son Jesus to die for us and reconcile us back to Him, a people that didn’t even know or acknowledge Him. Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrates his own love for in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” . That’s the kind of love He has for us.
So don’t be anxious and live you life knowing that your future is safe and secure in the hands of an all-knowing and powerful father who loves you very much an wants the best for you in accordance to His will. I read somewhere of something that changed my mindset and it said “You cannot improve on God’s plan for your life.” This comforted me greatly because I can never plan better than the master planner who can see the future. How can man possible possible do better than an all-knowing and powerful God who actually loves you so much? Once we come to terms with this fact it become easier to submit our wills, plans and ambitions to Him.
Nonetheless, as believers who strive for growth and maturity, we must remember the sober fact that God’s ultimate plans are absolute. God was God before us and will remain God even after we are gone. He can do without us and it is a privilege for us to be involved in His plan. So today ask God to reveal to you where you fall in in His plans and ask Him for grace to submit to His plans for you.
