God is doing a new thing
Passages: Is. 43: 18-19

Our coordinator calls the Lord “an endless ocean”, no matter how much you draw from an ocean it doesn’t reduce. So it is with God, He is so deep and so wide, wide that whenever you come to him you can always receive something fresh. That is the kind of God we serve. He is always doing something new. Our anchor scripture in Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV) says “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See I am doing a new thing! Now it sprngs up; do you not percieve it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” This scripture is encouraging us today that the Lord who is ever new has a new things in store for you. You may have been feeling that your life is moving in circles, or maybe it’s not moving at all. Today the Lord is reminding us that He is still at work in our lives. It may not look like it but we must continue to trust in Him.
For believers who strive towards maturity, we must know that it is our part to perceive this newness that God is doing. vs. 19 continues by saying, ” do you not perceive it?” Some translations say “do you not know it?”, “Are you not aware of it?” This tell us 2 things. Firstly, we must be sensitive to perceive what God wants to do or is doing. Amplified version says “Listen carefully, I am about to do a new thing,”. So you must actively pay attention to His leading and His voice.
Secondly and very importantly, we must obey Him and yield to His instructions. It is not enough to hear God, we must obey His voice. For many of us, God has done His part but we are still wondering in the wilderness of disobedience and we will never reach the promise land unless we obey. Take this as an invitation to seek Him. Come to the endless ocean and draw from Him.
Today the Lord is saying I am doing something new in your life, do you not see it?
