This edition of Youth Time-Out was one of the most educative one since its beginning and this is because it touched on different aspects of lives from spiritual to economical. We looked at the life of Chief Innocent Chukwuma who is the CEO and Founder of Innoson Group. Since March we had all be studying his life, drawing out lessons from his struggles to his achievements. We looked at how he overcame his circumstances and how we can apply them to our lives. I will be highlighting some lessons we can learn from his life. You can find his biography here.
- He did not let failure stop him: Chief Innocent wanted to be an engineer but couldn’t pass the cut off mark for that. He didn’t let that deter him, moving to the next chapter of his life. Some of us believe that the same path a successful person took would be the same path we would also take. Don’t look at one path as the only way to succeed; there are different paths to success. If you don’t go to school ASAP, it’s not the end of the world, if you don’t get a job immediately, you can still make it. What you need to do is to get up and move.
- He was determined and had a purpose: Even while he was working for his brother, he still knew what he wanted. He did not settle for what he did not want regardless of the situation. A lot of people do not know what they want and this can lead them to going wherever the wind blows. It’s important we discover and know our purpose.(book on purpose)
- He was a problem solver: He saw a problem and rather than complaining about it, he thought of a solution for the problem. Chief Innocent saw what other people could not see. How do you view things?
- He was not discouraged by what people said: When he wanted to start his manufacturing company, people explained in great detail how others failed instead of him allowing them to discourage him, he looked at where the others failed and why they failed before implementing his plan. Don’t allow others to discourage you from doing what you ought to do. People will always talk but you must know when to listen to them.
Chief Innocent was someone that was faithful in what he was given and also had a teachable spirit. For us to be people that make differences in our society, these are the qualities that we must have.
